Abstract:

In the present work, we report preparation of NiO nanoparticles with well-defined plate morphology by solid-state reaction of NiCl2∙6H2O and the Schiff base ligand N,N′-bis-(3-methoxysalicylidene)benzene-1,4-diamine), as a novel precursor via solid state thermal decomposition method. This method is a simple and environmentally friendly for preparing transition metal oxides. The result of TGA analysis of the precursor showed that the proper calcinations temperature is 450 oC. The NiO product was characterized by XRD, FT-IR and UV-Vis spectroscopy, SEM and TEM. The results indicated that the obtained product is face-centered cubic of nickel oxide, plate shape with average particle size of 10-20 nm. The optical absorption band gap of the nickel oxide nanoparticles was estimated to be 2.1 eV.

Nickel Oxide (NiO) nanoparticles prepared by solid-state thermal decomposition of Nickel (II) schiff base precursor

In this paper, plate-like NiO nanoparticles were prepared by one-pot solid-state thermal decomposition of nickel (II) Schiff base complex as new precursor. First, the nickel (II) Schiff base precursor was prepared by solid-state grinding using nickel (II) nitrate hexahydrate, Ni(NO3)2∙6H2O, and the Schiff base ligand N,N′-bis-(salicylidene) benzene-1,4-diamine) for 30 min without using any solv...

Preparation and characterization of Graphene/Nickel Oxide nanorods composite

Graphene-based nanocomposites are newly emerged materials with a wide range of applications such as in supercapacitors electrode. The high conductivity and ability for passing electric current, makes Graphene an appropriate new item to be used in cells. Electroactive transition metal oxides, owing fast reversible redox pairs, are used to store electrical charge. Furthermore, the Graphene/NiO na...

Preparation of Nickel Nanoparticles by Intramolecular Reaction of Nickel(II) Hydrazine Complex in the Solid State at Room Temperature

Ni6(N2H4)6(SO4)4(OH)2(H2O)8](SO4)(H2O)10 complex was prepared according to literature report. The reaction between aforementioned complex via sodium alkoxides as a reactants, were carried out in the solid state. The [Ni6(N2H4)6(SO4)4(OH)2(H2O)8](SO4)(H2O)10 undergoes an intramolecular two electrons oxidation-reduction reaction at room temperature and metallic nickel nanoparticles (Ni1-Ni5) was ...
